Originally from Belgium, Nanou has taken valuable influences from travels in Europe, America, Asia and India. 

During her journey she sources local material to expand and adapt her work to the environment while engaging with the community.

Artist residency sponsored by the Australian Council for the Arts.
"Shading the light'project included a Public Art installation and a combination of artworks resulting from on-site analysis.
The overall body of work evolved as an international collaboration with Christine Chilcott, a Swedish photographer and Jonathan Rattner, an American filmmaker.
The collaboration was exhibited in Melbourne.

America

 

An intensive workshop with Judith Kruger, learning the traditional Japanese painting methods of Nihonga.

A technique that uses oyster shell, kumohadashi paper, gold leaf, and Sumi ink in an abstract application.

China

 

Nanou was one of five artists from RMIT taking part in an international field trip while completing her final research for an MA in Public Art. This residency was held at the Art Department of Shanxi University where her role included mentoring traditional Chinese painters toward abstraction. An exhibition entitled 'Nature & Peace resulted from this exchange between the Chinese students and the RMIT guest artists.

A series of paintings the "Four Seasons", a collaboration between Nanou and Professor Chang is housed in the Universities private collection.
